Meet Bonnie, Ascend Retail Accountant

June 3, 2020 Blog, Meet the Team Erin

Breaking news: we’re bringing back “Meet the Team!” Every so often, we will feature one of our team members in the blog to give you a chance to get to know the people that develop Ascend, balance your books, and support you every day.

This week we are talking to Bonnie Yonash, an Ascend Retail Accountant who works with retail stores in both the United States and Canada. So, let’s get started…

What is most rewarding about your role as a Retail Accountant at Ascend?

Helping my bike shops with day to day decisions and  knowing that I am helping them survive and thrive in what can be a tough economy.

How long have you been at Ascend?

I’ve been with Ascend for a year and a half, and counting!

How do you keep a healthy work/life balance?

I am super passionate about both work and life, so that makes the balancing a little bit easy for me; honestly Ascend lets me have the best of both worlds. I can take my office to another location if needed, and I can fluctuate my time based on what my shop owners need as well.

What makes you GREAT?

I am goofy to the core. I like to laugh, and thereby make others around me laugh. My dad told me once that as long as you can laugh and smile, you are doing the right thing. That advice has helped me tremendously throughout my career.

What are your hobbies?

Traveling and hanging out with my cat! If I am not taking a trip this weekend, there’s probably a big one right around the corner, and I love talking about what I did and what’s next too. I absolutely love globe trotting – whether its a work trip, a weekend getaway to a nearby city, or a long flight to a remote area.

I also have a 13 year old cat named Gonzo [pictured with Bonnie] that I am absolutely over the top for. I adopted him two years ago from a no kill shelter and he is the best old man cat you could have.

What bike accessory would you be and why?

I’d be an LED light – I would be there for safety (bookkeeping), helping you travel all while blending into the bike. Sometimes the stuff in the background is the most important to make sure everything is going well.

If we all came to your house for dinner, what would you make? Why?

I love love love to bake so you would have lot and lots and lots of recipes – but I also like to experiment, so they might not be the best either.
