Nothin’ but Blue Skies

The Spring 2017 version of Ascend was released last week, and nearly 65% of our locations world-wide have already updated! Have you joined them yet?

Update to Spring 2017: If you haven’t updated yet, schedule some time outside of your normal business hours to join the expedition! Check out all the new features – including a streamlined special order workflow, condensed full-page receipts for work orders, scroll bars for long comments, transferring products by serial number, and more.

Join us at the top: For multi-store retailers, the Spring 2017 update also brings Stratus – our new, more reliable multi-store platform.

We’ve built this platform from the ground up in order to better handle and distribute the increased load as your business grows. It can scale automatically with no intervention from our developers, and is localized for faster load times across the world. Check out our Stratus FAQs for more details!

You name it: No matter how similar they may look from the outside, all PCs are unique. So, give them their own names!

Assigning a name to every workstation makes it easier to identify it on reports, track where a sale was made, and allows you to accurately reconcile your cash at the end of the day. Learn how to create and assign workstation names in our online help.

And as we expand the number of device settings which are shared between workstations, assigning a name to every one of your workstations will ensure all of your devices can communicate with each other without any problems.

Delayed gratification: All the way back at the beginning of the year, we announced some changes coming to ascendrms.com – namely, the universal login will be giving way to separate accounts for each retailer location. We’d planned to begin rolling out these accounts starting on February 20 – but as you’ve likely noticed, this hasn’t happened yet.

We sincerely apologize for the delay– unfortunately, we ran into some unexpected (but significant) snags rolling out these updates. Rather than release something that wasn’t quite up to snuff, we’ve held off on setting up retailer accounts. We don’t have an exact date for this rollout just yet, but rest assured, we’ll keep you updated as soon as we have a better idea!

If you’ve already filled out your request, you should’ve received an email confirmation over the last few weeks. If you didn’t see it, check your spam or junk folder, and be sure to add @ascendrms.com to your “safe senders” or “whitelist.” Once we create your account, you’ll receive a second email with your login details.

If you haven’t requested your login yet, don’t delay! The current, universal login will only be active for a short time once we start rolling out the new accounts. Just fill out this easy form to ensure you don’t lose access to downloads, vendor files, and more.

Trekfest 2017: Are you participating in this weekend’s Trekfest 2017 sale? Make sure you’re ready to redeem the “in-store credit gift cards” for qualifying Trek bike purchases and extend the P&A sale pricing to your customers. Our help topic will walk you through the entire process, from beginning to end.

April sales: This month brings us additional expo events, which means additional show hardware to inventory. Help us out by taking advantage of our closeout pricing on point-of-sale hardware (including receipt printers, cash drawers, barcode scanners, payment terminals, and workstation PCs). However, please note – this hardware won’t be available to ship until the week of April 10. Quantities are extremely limited, and will be shipped on a first come-first served basis, so get your order in now!

Sorry, Canadian retailers – we’re unable to ship show hardware outside of the US. But, we haven’t forgotten about you! In lieu of closeout pricing, we’re offering you 5% off of new hardware purchases.

Additionally, Zebra Technologies – makers of the ZD410 label printer, barcode scanners (including “driver’s license” scanners), and the MC2180 inventory scanner – is moving their headquarters this month, and is limiting their supply of new hardware. Our suppliers may have a small amount of existing stock, but expect longer wait times while the manufacturer starts their production back up in their new location.
